The 2018-19 MHL League schedule has been completed and posted to the web on both the MHL and local hockey association web sites.  Scheduling was a mammoth undertaking involving the scheduling of 2,112 games at 12 different rinks in Washington and Oregon for 97 teams and over 1,000 (estimated) players!!

Special thanks to Donna Kaufman, Puget Sound Hockey Association for coordinating the effort.  Thanks also to Penny DelBarto who helped put the schedules in a form for uploading to the MHL web and to Ian Armstrong, Seattle Jr and Andrew Birnbrich, SnoKing who did the upload to the new MHL web site.  Jessica Turney, Tacoma, conducted the cross checks of the schedules in Tacoma.

Kaufman said, “The MHL league reps  were very responsive in looking at the schedules to check for proper ice usage and did a great job of getting the number of teams and ice to me in a timely manner:  Les Grauer - Kent, Christopher Raub - Everett, Nick Fouts - Seattle Jr., Doug Kirton and Andrew Birnbrich - SnoKing, Penny Delbarto - Bremerton, Bob Knoerl - Vancouver and Andy Potter - Portland.”

Kaufman also praised the local coaches, managers and parents for their patience. “It is a job that requires everyone to work together.  It is great to work with each of them.”

MHL League games begin Saturday October 13th for most teams.  May everyone have an exciting and enjoyable 2018-19 hockey season.

USA Hockey Require Helmets on Coaches While on the Ice.

Safety is the top priority of USA Hockey each and every day. In 2006, USA Hockey took a significant step forward in enhancing safety by requiring coaches and volunteers to wear helmets when they are on the ice.

“While most are in compliance with the rule, this past June, USA Hockey’s board of directors added a 30-day suspension from all activities involving registered programs for failure to comply with the rule.”

The rule can be found on Page 144 Section A, of USA Hockey’s 2018-19 Annual Guide.

Here’s to a fun and safe hockey season. Thanks for all you do to make hockey the greatest game on earth.
