October 30, 2011 – The Kent Valley Midget Tier-II Selects have played the Portland Jr. Hawks Midget “A” four times over the past two weekends and the two teams have demonstrated that they are pretty evenly matched. The average score over the four games is Kent Valley 3 to Portland 2 with Kent Valley getting wins in all four games. Saturday’s game 3 of this series ended in a 1 to 1 tie. With the curfew clock in Kent Valley Ice Centre permitting it and the two coaches agreeing to it, the teams went to a shootout. Kent Valley’s Max Doner and Buck Scougale each scored in the best-of-3 shootout. Christopher Edwards scored the only goal for Portland. Final score: 2 to 1 in favor of Kent Valley.
Caleb Bromley scored the Selects only goal during regulation play Saturday with an assist from Johnny Scherer. Aaron Mathews played well in goal stopping 10 of 11 shots on goal for a 91% save rate. Penalties were even at 12 minutes each. Kent Valley outshot Portland 23 to 11, the only part of the game that wasn’t even.
Sunday’s game was played with a little more intensity but was still a close game. Kent Valley scored the first two goals of the game, Patrick Dunphy from Max Doner & Buck Scougale, and Buck Scougale from Max Doner & Patrick Dunphy. Portland answered with the two goals by Henri Poussa with assists from Christopher Edwards & Jeramy Zimick. The game winning goal was scored by Johnny Scherer with just 5:19 remaining to play in the game. Tyler Jennings assisted Scherer’s goal. Aaron Mathews proved once again that he is up to play at this level as he turned in an excellent performance in goal stopping 25 of 27 shots on goal for a 93% save rate. Portland outshot Kent Valley 27 to 23.

Kent Valley Midget Selects Tie SnoKing 18U Tier-II 3 to 3 Kent Valley Ice Centre, Kent, WA. October 16, 2011 – Kent Valley’s Midget Selects have not been able to get by SnoKing’s 18U Tier-II team yet this season.
