First Game - 6:30/6:55pm
 Second Game - 7:00/7:25pm
 Third Game - 7:30/7:55pm
June 23rd & 30th,   July 14th, 21st & 28th,
August 4th, 11th & 18th

Phone:  253-850-2400 x10

To take part in this summer program, simply find two friends under eighteen, who like to play hockey, form a team consisting of three (3) players, register by calling (253) 850-2400 ext.10 & come to KVIC each Monday evening ready to skate.  Registrations will be accepted upon release of this document, with a limit of thirty-six (36) individual players (or 12 teams) to a session, on a first-come, first-served basis per the following guidelines:

To start, and in the interest of balance, teams will be registered as follows:
   1) Four (4) teams - Beginner (LTP) to Squirt Rec. / ages 4 to 11 yrs.
   2) Four (4) teams - Squirt Rep. to PeeWee Rep. / ages 10 to 13 yrs.
   3) Four (4) teams - Bantam Rec. to Midget Rep./ ages 14 to *18 yrs.
     (*-were eligible to play the 2007-08 season as a Midget.)

A team's age will be defined by the relative-ages of two of its three members, with all decisions regarding team placement made by the commissioner and considered final. There are no slap shots or body checks, and all players are to be fully-equipped according to USA Hockey rules.  If necessary, substitutions are to be arranged by the team and the commissioner must be notified in advance of the involved session.

If demand dictates, additional game sessions will be opened up immediately following (8:00-8:30pm, 8:30-9:00pm, etc.)  Until that point, a waiting list will be created, again on the first-come, first-served basis listed above.

Each session will provide three (3), twenty-five minute games, resulting in approx. 40 minutes of actual playing time. (Roughly the same ice time as in three regular season games.)

To the parents:  it is the primary intent of this program to provide an opportunity for the kids to organize & manage themselves in a more relaxed, game-like setting than in a typical team atmosphere. Win or lose, the onus is on the players to simply play. In short, outside of providing a referee (i.e. adult-supervision), ice-time, and an opponent, there will be zero coaching provided.

Thursday’s Daily Schedule:
Stickhandling - 6:15/6:45pm
Pass-Shoot - 6:45/7:15pm
Skating - 7:15pm/7:45pm

June 26th;
July 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st;
August 7th, 14th & 21st.

253-850-2400 x10

Begin training NOW to prepare for next season.  Get a competitive edge on the players you will be competing against.  Each day you will have 90 minutes of concentrated training to improve your individual skills: stick handling, passing/shooting and skating.  Don?t wait - - it may end up being too late.

Stick handling
  Handle the puck like you have never been able to before.  Learn single-dekes, double-dekes, toe drags, puck flips, backhand slides, escapes, 360 Gretzky curls, moves through your skates and 180 dekes.

Passing/Shooting

Make precision "tape to tape" passes using a variety of different types of forehand and backhand passes: saucer, ½ slap, one touch, area, and off the boards.  Develop a laser shot using a variety of weapons from both your forehand and backhand: slap, snap, wrist and one timer.

Skating

The flow of play in a hockey game is dictated by foot movement - - the faster and more efficient your skating, the more you will have the puck and be able to dominate play.  Develop a longer, stronger more efficient skating stride that will allow you to skate at full speed for longer shifts.  Develop quickness, agility and balance for intense maneuvers during tight close-in battles.

Hockey Development
Today’s athletes are more skilled than ever before.  Players serious about their skills must constantly strive to improve their balance, agility, speed and coordination.  The Accelerated Training Program utilizes a myriad of methods to develop these key power skating fundamentals, while simultaneously conditioning athletes, developing their core body strength and promoting better eye-hand coordination.  Our off-ice program incorporates series of dry land exercises designed to improve explosive skating abilities and alternates dry land stick handling drills used by the USNDTP (United States National Development Training Program recommended by USA Hockey) to create and develop “soft-hands”.  On-ice drills focus on developing quickness, power, acceleration and long strides.
We strongly believe the key to success is hard work and education.  Therefore, our primary goal is to educate and encourage participants to develop these core concepts and skills and dramatically improve their on-ice performance.  In 7 short weeks, this program offers as much practice time as in a normal winter season!!
