Kent Valley Ice Centre, Kent, WA – KVHA News for 25 March, 2011 – Thank you to all that donated, attended and supported our 8th Annual Auction at Kent Valley Hockey Association. This year's auction was held at ShoWare Center where 192 attended, the largest number to date! There was great food, fun conversation and to top it off, many wonderful silent and live auction items and a couple of raffles that helped us have a very successful KVHA Auction!
Our three Silent Auction tables sold every item donated and averaged 70% of the value received. This is remarkable! Most auctions average about 50% of the silent auction tables. We all did such an amazing job procuring excellent items! We brought in $10,111 from our three Silent Auction tables. Our Live Auction brought in $14,425 with some incredible items donated. We had everything from suites at sporting events to last minute additions of Jerseys. It was truly an amazing mix of items. Our Dessert Dash was very successful earning $2,712.
During the Silent Auction we were selling tickets to two different raffles. The first was the traditional “Split-the-Pot 50/50.” We brought in over $500 after paying the winning recipient her half of the pot! The second raffle ticket was for our Treasure Chest. We kept the prize a mystery only telling you it involved travel and experiences and the total value was over $1,500. It included 7 night hotel stays including Wenatchee, Spokane Valley, Coeur D'Alene, Kennewick and Pasco. In each of the cities were activities like white water rafting, wine tasting, a flight around Tri-Cities and gift cards for restaurants and coffee. The winning ticket holder was amazed at all the activities and adventures packaged in a suitcase! We raised $2,060 in sales of Treasure Chest Tickets!
This was a banner year for our associations "Fund-A-Player." It is an honor to have raised $12,500 in “Fund-A-Player” monies that will go toward funding player scholarships! Thank you to all that donated to this very worthy cause.
For the first time we had a "Gift Card Frenzy" just before Live Auction. There were 25 gift cards donated and we earned $1,610. An extraordinary opportunity lent itself to us as one of the gift cards donated was a $100 gift card to Ruth's Chris Restaurant. A guest at the auction was the head chef from their Seattle location. He was so moved by our incredible generosity as an association that he added a full 5-course meal for 4 to the gift card. That $100 gift card was bid up to $650! What an incredible last minute addition to our auction! Along with this, 5 new Dasher Board Ads were sold! We can't wait to see 5 more boards filled around our rink. How exciting!
We will save you the trouble of finding your calculator and tell you the total earned the night of the auction was $46,598! We have some expenses to finalize like credit card processing fees and such, but within a few weeks we will have the final net income. Currently we are calculating it to be around $45,000.
We would also like to thank our dynamic MC for the evening... Mr. Adam Kurtenbach. Adam was such a great MC and kept the Live Auction very light and fun. Thank you so much Adam for stepping in and doing such a great job as our MC! We also hope that you enjoyed viewing pictures of your players on the center ice screen. JR Jenkins took on this huge task and we thank him for the wonderful slide show.
The Auction Committee is already starting to plan for our 9th Annual Auction. We are inviting those that would like to be part of the planning next year to email our Auction Committee regarding their desire to participate. We will be starting discussions on dates and such in late July. We will start meeting on a monthly basis in August. There are so many jobs, large and small, that should you choose to help would make our auction next year that much more successful!!! Please E-Mail us at:
